Review: Surj
Another instalment in the "Dollar" series that I couldn't wait to devour. "Hundreds" was a book that I couldn't wait to get my mitts on because (in true Pepper Winters style) we had been left with quite the cliff hanger at the end of book #2. Yes, I will tell you that we were given the answer to "that" question but I will also be so generous to tell you that this book was all about revelations. Oh yes, secrets were revealed, truths uncovered and some of those naughty skeletons in closets also decided to come out and play. Be prepared for bombshells peeps, the likes you would never expect and that will leave you gobsmacked and in some instances leave your heart a little battered and bruised too.

Like "Dollars," this third book in the series entitled "Hundreds" was a slow burner of a read but that's okay. Sometimes a book doesn't warrant heart stopping thrills, spills, action and drama for it to be an enjoyable read. Quite the contrary. In fact I loved "Hundreds" because of the change in direction it took. This was a book that gave the reader's an opportunity to explore the leading characters, Pim and Elder. It was an opportunity for the reader to start stripping back the layers to get a really good insight in to who these two characters were, what made them tick, what they were hiding and what their hopes, fears and dreams were. in terms of Elder (more so than Pim) I was so thankful that some of his demons finally came out to say hello. I had been desperate to find out what this man was hiding and finally, I got a little sneak peak (heart breaking as it was). It really helped me understand his character and his behaviour but there is still so much that remains hidden and I can't wait to see what else comes to the surface (as ugly as it may be!).
This wasn't love. This was destroying.
And I threw myself head first into it.
For Pim, this book was about the growth in her character. From scared, beaten and tortured prisoner to strong and brave warrior, I loved seeing her conquer her fears and embrace life. Yes it was baby steps but this was a journey of self discovery for her and I loved that she took the opportunities that came her way as an advantage to moving forward with her life. Unfortunately the same couldn't be said for Elder as (time and time again) I saw a more exposed and vulnerable side full of raw emotions that he really struggled to come to terms with. He was in constant turmoil, battling something within. Would Pepper Winters tell us what that was or would she make us wait? Well, let's just say, we got another cliffy peep. And so the torture begins!!!! Arrrgghh!!!! It's a good job we love this author so much!!!
Her secrets were my secrets. And I couldn't tell her any of them.
"Hundreds" was an emotional, pretty angsty (at times), sensual read that got ❤️❤️❤️❤️ from me.
